First let’s talk about rocks on freeways. What the heck! Where do those rocks come from? Usually if I see a truck with a lot of trash in the back or a cement truck I get the heck out of dodge. You know what I mean, don’t you?
Well last week I was just driving along, minding my own business, and there’s an 18 wheeler in front of me, and it doesn’t even have a load. All of a sudden a big rock pops out of nowhere, like it just appeared especially for me. It shot up and hit my windshield hard. So hard it made a big star immediately, right in the center, above my rearview mirror and toll road sticker. I was so mad! By that afternoon the star had run across my windshield.
It started going down to the driver’s side and then it curved upwards. My husband said that if it ran down low and across my view I wouldn’t pass inspection. He made some calculations and told me how much it will probably cost to fix. Yes now, when I have to get ready to buy school clothes and pay after school tuition for my daughter and Pre-K tuition for my son.
So today I’m driving along, once again minding my own business, and there’s no one in front of me, not even an 18 wheeler. What do you think happened? Yes, you guessed it, a rock came out of nowhere and hit my windshield, this time to the left. By lunchtime it popped and started running across my view. Of course.
What is up with that? I guess I’m going to have to replace my windshield, like it or not.
So the summer is over. Can you believe it? I can’t even believe it. I can’t believe that in just two weeks we’re having ice cream social for my daughter to meet her teacher and then a “meet and greet” at my son’s school to meet his. This will be his first year of real school so it’s a really big deal.
I was supposed to do summer reading with my daughter and I had to take her to the library. Yes she read the required number of books for the library summer program but we only went to the library twice this summer. Today was the second visit. We checked out six for my daughter and six for my son. Of course he wants to check out books too, even though it wasn’t a summer requirement for him.
Where did the summer go? I had such great plans. Library visits every other Monday and swimming lessons at my girlfriend’s pool every other Friday. We went to my girlfriend’s pool once. We may go one more time before school starts. And so the summer ends and we have to start getting ready to go back to school. Does anyone else feel like it just flew by?
On a good note, I’m kind of glad they are going to go back to school, because as much as I joke about always running late, I also need the discipline. At least I’ll be at work earlier and that’s always a good thing.
