KPFT, The Bodega Cookbook, & The Locavore Movement

Bodega_Cookbook_Small.jpg

Tune in this Tuesday to KPFT to the Nuestra Palabra show at 7:30 p.m. Central and listen to my interview.  They will be interviewing me about The Bodega Party in a Box.  This is a cookbook that encourages shopping at your local neighborhood store.  I contributed a recipe for Pork in Tomatillo sauce.

I’m very excited about the interview and I can’t wait to talk about this great project from Neighbors Project, that encourages being a good neighbor and urban living.

My sister was telling me that The Bodega Party in a Box project reminded her of the Locavore movement.  I found the locavore movement very interesting so of course I had to look it up and I read about it on Wikipedia.  This movement is even more local, where people only buy from people, farmers in their area.

But it is a very similar concept in that the Bodega Party encourages people to shop in their own neighborhoods.  It also helps fund the Food & Liquor Project, which helps to get more produce in local stores.  So tune in on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. Central at 90.1 FM locally or kpft.org nationally and hear all about it!

Loida, Thank you so much for talking about the Locavore Movement! Here in my town, we've sold off all our farms to build asphalt-centric developments. Now, that the Locavore Movement makes so much sense, there are only a few small lots of land left. Perhaps, it's time to rip up the asphalt! G. Congrats on being in the cookbook.
