So Soon?

A friend emailed me a couple of weeks ago to confess she’d had enough summer vacation:  “I've reached my 6-week-pull-my-hair-out-because-children-are-in-the-house-every-day mark.”

Now I’m wondering where the time has gone.

July isn’t even over and we’re sending an intern back to college and rounding up items for back-to-school supply drives.

We’ll miss Meg Spencer, though I’m sure she’s looking forward to getting back to friends and completing her final semester at Clemson. Meg is smart, unfailingly cheerful, and hard-working.  Fortunately, she balances that with a touch of cynicism, which makes her darned near perfect in my book.  This is her last week interning in the skirt! office but we hope it won’t be the last time we see her there.

If you’ve read Meg’s blog, you may already know about the Five Points Back-to-School Supply Drive, this Friday from 4-8pm.  Bring donations to the Five Points fountain and you’ll be rewarded with discounts and freebies. (When you donate, they’ll smack a sticker on you so that merchants will know you qualify.)  I know that Mr. Friendly’s is giving a free glass of wine on Friday evening to those wearing the school supply drive sticker.

I’m sure there are other school supply drives going on around town too:  feel free to post information about them here and we’ll add them to the skirt! calendar.
