Visual Journal

Thursday, July, 10, 2008

Summertime has surely not been my time to blog. Ive been taking road trips left and right and as I look back at what exactly the summer has entailed for me, I realized that I do not have many pictures to show for those trips. For a person who has a collection of photo albums dating back to the first grade, this is kinda disturbing. What has caused this hiatus is capturing the moment? The excuse I continue to use is that I don’t have a nice camera. So maybe its time to make the investment.

In college, I was required to take fine art courses outside of my concentration area. One of my choices was Black & White Photography. Not only did this class cause a level of excitement in my life at the time (I took my borrowed Nikon everywhere), but it also instilled in me the true appreciation of the moments in life and the beauty of the most mundane things.

So today, I was reading a number of blogs that I like in order to keep myself inspired and I came across a great idea that I wanted to share. An artist named Leah Piken Kolidas has a blog called Creative Every Day. Her recent post included this great collage/mosaic project that is derived from images on Flikr.com.

So in my attempt to be inspired by some great images and to create a little visual journal about myself, here is my version:

I was hoping to work on this today as opposed to doing actual work. But alas, my computer here at (Insert Office Job) cannot handle the awesomeness of the website. Therefore I am forced to make my own out of macaroni, puff paint, and glitter. I'll drop by Skirt and maybe you can hang it in your workspace.
