I read *Autobiography of a Face* several years ago after hearing the author interviewed on Fresh Air. I bought the book and liked it. But this year I read Ann Patchett's *Truth and Beauty* -- a memoir of her friendship with Grealy. It was gripping, especially with the context of having read Grealy's own words of her experience. It was fascinating to read a totally different perspective. I hope readers will stick with Grealy's book and then get Ann's (who also wrote the fabulous *Bel Canto.*

The whole reason that I wanted AOF to be the first book that we read as a bookclub was because I read Truth and Beauty, then became obsessed with Lucy's story. It was a BEAUTIFUL story of love and friendship. I have Bel Canto waiting in the wings, but am, at the moment, in love with The Time Traveler's Wife. Let's keep the conversation open.....

I know it's not exactly a fun beach read, but I am really enjoying Autobiography of a Face. I should be finished in the next day or so. I started reading "I Was Told There'd Be Cake," a smart but hilarious book. Maybe we could read that at some point. It's by Sloane Crosley, who's like a young, female David Sedaris, if that makes sense. writeous babe

Where are you in the book? It seems that you, Angelia, Heather and I are the only ones reading, so I would like to schedule a wrap-up date, possibly next week sometime. "I Was Told There'd Be Cake" sounds good to me! I need to get to the bookstore, or check it out on Amazon.
