I don't wanna go til I'm good and ready

Wednesday, June, 11, 2008

Last night, I rocked out at the R.E.M. show at Hardee’sAlltel Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek.  They sounded great, which was exciting.  I pretty much hate it when you go see a band you love on CD and they’re bad live.  Sounding good on an album is not hard if you’ve got a good producer, so the real litmus test for a band is their live show – and R.E.M. passed with flying colors.

Personally, I was a little disappointed they didn’t play some of the crowd favorites like Night Swimming, and It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine).  But Losing My Religion made a welcome appearance, as did Orange Crush, and the band was – understandably – promoting their new album, Accelerate (which is worth buying, if you haven’t yet).

On the cool people front, I ran into Allison Beale of george pr and Ashley Christensen of Poole’s Downtown Diner.  If you haven’t been to Poole’s for the slap-yo’-mama-it’s-so-good Mac ‘n’ Cheese, you need to do that.  Now.

The fact that I haven't seen R.E.M. is one of my only regrets in life. Maybe Atlanta... Annie, author of The Daily Digress, a Blog and The Shop Tart!, a Blog about shopping in Columbia, South Carolina

I lived in Athens for 6 years after college. Highlight of my Athens life was running into Michael Stipe downtown AND seeing them in a surprise/impromptu performance at the 40 Watt. Good stuff!

I had considered it, but this post sealed the deal, so my children have you to thank! They did play Night Swimming in Atlanta by the way and it was great. I think I bought the tickets right after reading this - so thank you!!
