Tea, anyone?

Independence Day, huh!

The day America commemorates sending us British packing.

Every now and then, someone will ask me: “So, what’s it like being here on the 4th of July?”

Well, it kind of feels like being dumped by your high school boyfriend.

(And then having people make jokes about it all day.)

Over time you start to feel better…. you can’t really remember why you fell out in the first place. You still laugh at the same things. You become friends again.

You even start to think: “Maybe he’ll take me back.”

So, do any of you fancy signing back on? I’m the only Limey I know of out here and I’d love to have some fellow tea drinkers.

The accent is free and we’ll still let you drive on the wrong side of the road!

Just kidding, of course.

HAPPY FOURTH LADIES!

Ok, so I'm not British,

Ok, so I'm not British, (well, as far as my family can tell through research, our ancestors immigrated from Ireland during the potato famine), but a born-and-bred Southerner.  However, I am a TOTAL Anglophile.  I nearly flipped when I discovered the British foods section at SweetBay, because I could get Heinz beans and McVitie's digestives without ordering them online.  I get all my news from the BBC podcasts and the Vicar of Dibley is one of my favorite TV shows, (Hubby's addicted to Top Gear).  I have 17 kinds of tea in my cupboard and drink at least one large mug a day, even in Florida.  So... while I guess I can't wish you a happy Fourth of July, how about we toast to a wonderful summer weekend filled with cookouts and barbecues? :)  Thanks for bring so good-natured about the whole independence thing.
