April Showers Bring May Flowers Giveaway

ws.jpg

Congratulations Pamela Sansour!

Pamela Sansour picked up this pretty package from Williams-Sonoma in our weekly giveaway this week.

Pamela’s favorite flower?
I adore hydrangeas. They take me back to a really sweet time when, as a child, I lived in the country in South Carolina. My mom and I would walk down this dusty dirt road, visiting a neighbor, who was no longer able to leave her home. We had so many hydrangea bushes outside our little house, and my mom would let me cut some to take to Mama Gene (that's what we called her, though to this day I don't know if that was her first, last, or even proper name). The flower had hints of blue and lavender, and smelled like my backyard. I cannot remember a time when a Mason Jar made flowers look so beautiful, or an old woman so happy. I always liked to think it was me she was happy to see, but now, with children of my own, I know that it might have been the flowers.

Stay tuned for your chance to enter in our next contest this Wednesday.

Gerber Daisies b/c they're bright, colourful and, on some weird level, always make me smile.

We're adults. When did that happen? And how do we make it stop?

My favorite flower is the daisy......bc it is beautiful and simple. I have found, as I get older, I appreciate simplicity in all its forms. I have finally begun to appreciate all the things about myself that I criticized for so long and enjoy the simple and beautiful parts of my life. Just like the daisy.

my favorite flower is a gardenia because they remind me of my mother and it was one of her favorites. in fact her wedding bouquet was made entirely of gardenia flowers. i have two plants that after a few setbacks (i found out that they can't be planted next to concrete) are now healthy and when they bloom our courtyard becomes a tropical paradise.

I absolutely adore pansies! My grandmother would grow these all along the walk way to her front door. We would get down on the ground very close to the flowers and look into their little "faces"! They smelled so light and sweet, plus they make excellent decorations on pretty spring desserts! I miss my nana....now that I live in Florida, I don't get to enjoy pansies as much either!

I LOVE wild flowers that grow on the side of the road. When I see them, they always makes me smile. They are so pretty and add such color to the most extraordinary places.

I love Jasmine flowers, for the fragrance that lingers on, even when the flower is gone, The purity of the petal white, the little tenderness so sweet, jasmine, sure is an olfactory treat I love Jasmine flowers, for the fragrance that lingers on, even when the flower is gone.

Ever since I saw the animated version of Thumbelina I have always loved tulips. I know, I know, a cartoon? But I aways imagined being small enough to fit between the tulip petals and fall asleep on the style.

Or perhaps I would dance between blades of grass while my tulip partner twirled me around, then toss me into the air. I would, of course, land into a perfect arabesque then sashe my way between the eons of daisies and dandelions. (Allusion to Fantasia, just so you know. ;] )

Maybe I just have an overactive imagination. I love tulips because they look really nice in a vintage coke bottle that I own. Keri love you plz.

My favorite flowers are morning glories because they make me think of my grandmother Nora. She grew morning glories in her yard and when I visited her and we would sip tea in her kitchen the morning glories grew so high they crawled and tapped on her kitchen windows. I always admired how high they grew and how she tended to them so gingerly. I also love their color.

Somehow, whenever I think of a fav - I think of lilacs - they grew as a border on either side of my childhood home and the colors and fragrance always bring back fond memories. Theresa Merkling http://www.2scrappychixdesigns.com

I grew up in Maryland where the state flower is the Blackeyed Susan. When ever I see one it reminds me of childhood. Driving to the Chesapeake Bay with my Mom to play the nickel slot machines. Driving to the mall with my Mom when school was closed for snow and being the only ones there. Carrying the groceries in for my Mom. Hearing Mom walking up the metal stairs from outside to the kitchen. Yes, they remind me of my Mom. Franne Schwarb

Lantana! It grows so beautifully all over Charleston, with so many different colors all on one blossom - it's amazing. It grows where I live now, but only in the summer and it doesn't spread.

My favorite flower is lily of the valley. They grew in my parents yard where I grew up. I have planted them twice in my yard, but they have not grown. I now collect photographs or drawings of lily of the valley and frame them to display in my home.

How can I pick just one? Lilacs bring me back to childhood. Buttercups are everywhere growing wildly. Daffodils are a big part of the community I call home. Roses show love and friendship.
