Tuesday, skirt’s road-tripping duo—Margaret Pilarski and Sabrina Heise—made their way through town.
They’re on their way to New Orleans to see The Vagina Monologues and stopped in at Immaculate Consumption to talk to some Columbia women. Morgan Sherman of Tell Them! was part of that group. She emailed me this afternoon to let me know that Margaret and Sabrina had arrived...videotaped...and continued on.
As soon as the travelers can find a place to
upload the video, you’ll see clips from that gathering here.
Last week, I made a shorter trip, over to Sumter for media day at Morris College. Students (two
of them at right) and faculty gave us a great welcome. Thanks everyone!
While I was there, I ventured into downtown Sumter where I found cute storefronts,
an
intriguing woman-owned business,

and quite the tambourine collection at Standard Music.
I also came across this installation
created by Pearl Fryar–
a garden filled with
mosaics just off the main street.
You can see some of Mr. Fryar’s other work online here.
