True story: I, along with another mother, chaperoned a group of teenagers, one of which was my daughter, to a NKOTB concert. My daughter (now 30) spent hours getting ready for the concert, every hair in place and just the right "outfit". We arrived early, bought one of every souvenier and found our way to our seats. Every person and I mean every person, including me, was singing along with the "kids". And like most rabid fans the girls just had to stay behind to collect the water bottles thrown from stage by the "kids". Who knows they might even be lucky enough to get the autograph of the "kid" who threw the bottle - both of which would be proudly displayed in a shadowbox and hung on the wall. While the girls made their way to the front of the stage the other mother and I made "small talk". It was during the small talk I couldn't help but notice she was distracted - her eyes glancing at the top of my head every 4-5 seconds. Is my hair out of place? What? Finally, and as nonchalantly as possible, I decided to run my fingers through my hair... only my fingers didn't glide through my hair - they got stuck in a wad of pink bubblegum that was undoubtedly "screamed" out of the mouth of a teenage fan standing a few rows behind us.
