Hold onto your ten gallon hats ladies! There’s a new girl in the skirt! nation now leading the skirts in Lubbock, Texas. I am so pleased to introduce you to Shelly Gonzales (aka Lucky Mama.)
Shelly is an amazing woman. A wife, mother, writer, editor of multiple publications fills her life resume but what really got me jumping up to have her involved with skirt! is her undeniable passion for empowering women.
What she doesn’t know, is that I googled her and I’ve got the goods.
Shelly happens to be a local mother’s hero in Lubbock. In December, after blogging about the removal of drawings by a local artist that included a mother nursing an infant at the local city center, Shelly took to the blogsphere and rallied other mothers to participate in a “nurse-in” protest Martin Sheen style. (O.k. no one was arrested and not a breast was seen, but it’s still pretty cool.)
Along with being an activist, Shelly’s also pretty funny. I’m just going to go ahead and throw her under the bus by telling you some of the titles from her previous blog.
“Chips, Coke, itimacy kit”
“Saying the F word at Grandma’s house”
“Sock it to me, God”
“Birth control vs. Viagra -- a no-brainer “
“Outsmarted by a 2 year old”
You’ll have to ask her for more details.
Since this is our first digital only initiative we’re trying to figure out what to call her. “Editor” works, but is kind of boring. I’m kind of partial to digital diva. Let us know if you have any thoughts and please help me in welcoming Shelly!
