In preparation to someday becoming a chef, Red Carpet Restaurant owner/chef Carlos Rangel used to sit and study in “his” booth often at the downtown Schlotzsky’s Deli, unaware that it would later become the exact location of his own restaurant.
“Everywhere you go, everyone seems to have a cool downtown other than Lubbock. We wanted to make it a little cooler.”
By “we” Carlos means co-owners Kathy and David Bailey, his mother and stepfather. With its constantly changing menu, laid back atmosphere mixed with high end cuisine, the Red Carpet Restaurant is quickly becoming the must stop eatery for a night on the town. Rangel and family insist on creating a party-like atmosphere complete with flipping fry pans and fireballs.
“This place is just magical. We have couples about to go off to the Cactus Theater sharing wine and stories with Tech students just one table over. Where else would these two groups of people share food and drinks together besides the Red Carpet?”

If you haven't been to Red Carpet, you should check it out in downtown Lubbock.
It's a fun place for a middle of the day lunch.
