My name's Tara, and I live in the fabulous city of Atlanta (go Braves!) I enjoy reading, music, and long walks in the park. When I'm not busy lusting over Derrick from the Real World/Road Rules Challenge on MTV, I enjoy trying my hand in the kitchen. My family are genuine, "straight off the boat" It...

NKOTB Baby!
Wednesday, September, 3, 2008

I remember the day New Kids on the Block split up. I was 12
years old, and I cried almost as bad as the time I found out Santa Claus was a
fake. My world literally felt as though it were coming to an end.
Fifteen years later, I’m sipping wine in my one-bedroom
apartment watching E, and what do I see – the return of NKOTB! I’m not too
proud to admit I did a little happy dance inside. Maybe it was the wine.
Whatever it was, the thought that my boys have come back for me (and millions
of other girls, I’m sure) felt like a dream come true.
Every female I know had their favorite member of the band.
Of course, we loved them for their music first and foremost, but what was the
point of not having a crush on one or
all of them? When I was younger, I was a Joey-Joe kind of gal. Maybe it was
those blue eyes, or maybe it was the fact that he was the youngest, and I was dying to be older (and hence, more
dateable) to any one of them. Ah, the troubles of youth.
Now slightly older, I find my tastes have changed, and while
Joey-Joe still has the same adorable sparkle in his eyes, I can’t help but
consider myself a Donnie girl. Maybe it’s the “bad boy” image, or maybe he just
kicked ass in the Saw movies. But if you put them all together, these five men
have aged quite well. I hope I look that good in 15 years.
I’ve only heard one of their new songs, but I’ll always be a
fan of the original material. How can you not shake it to The Right Stuff, Step by Step, and Hangin’ Tough? Come on people, admit it – you’ve always jammed out
to those tunes, and you still would to this very day. Well, I know that I still do, even if every square inch of
my bedroom wall isn’t covered in band posters pulled from the latest teen
magazines.
They’re coming to Atlanta
on October 29. The show starts at 8 p.m. at the Gwinnett Arena, and tickets are
$37. Who’s with me? I heard their reunion shows sold out so fast they had to
double the dates, and I don’t doubt it. Of course, I need to find a job before
I go buying anything, as my mommy no longer purchases my concert tickets for
me. Life was good when she did.
I love Donnie!
